BROOKFIELD — Officers are looking for the owner of a capsized kayak with a life jacket that was found floating at Lake Lillinonah Sunday afternoon. No one appears to be missing, police said.

The initial call received was for a capsized kayak with a life jacket attached floating in the water with no one in sight, police said.

The first responding officer arrived at the Bridgewater Bridge boat launch and observed a pickup truck with a kayak rack on top with no kayaks, which prompted the emergency response, police said.

The owner of the vehicle was contacted and is safe and sound. The capsized kayak was retrieved, and officers are working on locating who it belongs to, police said.

At this time, police said they have no reason to believe anyone is missing.
